What is a MSG file?
MSG is the file format Microsoft Outlook uses to save a single email, contact, or calendar item. It stores the header (sender, recipient, subject, timestamp), the message body, and any original attachments in one file — which is why it can typically only be opened natively in Outlook.

Reading a MSG file without Outlook
A .msg attachment is a dead end on most machines: Windows offers to search the store, macOS shows nothing useful, and webmail previews it as a binary blob. This viewer parses the compound file in the page itself and lays the message out like a mail client — header block, body in formatted or plain view, and every attachment listed with its size and a save button.
